The Garmin MAP60 series GPS is a great product. First of all it's waterproof, up to a meter deep for 30 minutes anyway, so you can comfortably and safely carry it while kayaking, boating or hiking out in inclement weather.
All the models we are stocking are the MAP units which come with a basic map installed in the unit (see details below)with major roads and cities for the entire US.
All these units can be enhanced by purchasing and downloading specific map data from the internet. You can get detailed marine info if you're using it out on the water regularly or detailed street and highway info if you'll be using it driving so you can end up with the unit giving you turn by turn directions to unfamiliar destinations.
The basic MAP 60 has many features and multiple screens but does not have the color display and not as much memory (24mb)if you're wanting to download map data. Two Double AA batteries provide a battery life of 28 hours.
The MAP 60C (C denotes Color) has a color display and more memory (115mb) for downloading and storing data. Two Double AA batteries provide a battery life of 30 hours.
The MAP 60CS is a step up (the S stands for Sensors) and has a baremetric pressure sensor to give you accurate altitude and an electronic compass which will show the direction you are facing even if you have no movement. Two Double AA batteries provide a battery life of 20 hours.
The MAP 60CX is Garmins newest release which has a removable memory card (128mb) that can be loaded with specific mapping info. Additional memory cards can be purchased and popped into the unit for specific purposes. Two Double AA batteries provide a battery life of 18 hours.
All the MAP 76 units are larger than the MAP 60 series.
