Paddle/Rod Clips are a nice feature so you can clip your paddle in place while you're fishing or off snorkelling or clip your rod in while paddling.

     Some of the new designs are coming with paddle keepers integrated right into the mold. Many current designs will still need the paddle clips added if you want convenience of paddle or rod storage while on the water.

     You can also get the bungee buttons or paddle keeper kit, and by adding a couple of strapeyes with rivets, a bungee button and a piece of bungee you can have the paddle keepers (just like the new designs) now attached to your older kayak.
