The Mirage models come with the standard sized rudder (far left) which works fine in average conditions. The Sailing Rudder (on the right) is quite a bit larger and is really necessary if you start sailing your boat with any speed.

   Also if you get out in more extreme conditions the larger rudder gives you better handling in higher winds and rougher seas and if you start riding surf you'll need that increase in steering ability.

     The Adventure Island already comes stock with the Sailing Rudder since it's designed to be sailed at higher speeds. On all the other Mirage models the sailing rudder is an option
