There are a number of good reasons for having a lifevest
on board. One of them is that it's required by state law and you
could be fined if you get caught out without one.
Another reason is that in the unlikely event that you end up out
swimming along an unlandable coastline, or worse, pulled out away from
the island without any near term shot at getting back you'd be more
than happy to have the extra flotation.
The Adult, Youth and Child Vests all have adjustable straps with plastic clips in the front. The child vest also has a strap between the legs to keep it securely attached.
The Youth Float and Go has a zippered front and adjustable strap/plastic buckle in the front. It also has an open shoulder/back area to be cooler and more comfortable.
Note: Hawaii State law requires you have a vest on board, not that you must to be wearing it. Of course, if you're not a strong swimmer, wearing one while paddling can be a very good idea....
